Chargemap's new visual identity: same mission, new look

For more than 15 years, Chargemap has been helping electric vehicle drivers across Europe. Over the years, electric mobility has evolved dramatically, and so have drivers' expectations.

What began as a community-driven map created by EV enthusiasts has grown into an ecosystem that now supports millions of drivers, as well as companies and charging networks across Europe.

Today, we're opening a new chapter in our story. A new identity to reflect an ambition that has never been greater.

2009: an idea born from a real need

It all began in 2009. Yoann Nussbaumer, Chargemap's founder, became interested in electric vehicles. Excited by the prospect of making the switch, he started looking for charging points he could use away from home. At that time, however, there was no tool to help drivers find them easily.

That simple need (knowing where to charge) gave rise to Chargemap. The idea was to create a collaborative platform where electric vehicle drivers could share information about charging points and help one another charge seamlessly.

In 2011, a small group of enthusiasts joined him. They walked the streets, photographed charging points and checked that they were working. Everything was documented manually, one charging point at a time. The community gradually took over, and Chargemap grew, driven by the people who used it.

From day one, Chargemap has been built not only on technology, but also on a community united by the belief that, together, EV charging could be simplified.

15 years later: what is Chargemap today?

What started as a collaborative tool between enthusiasts has become a complete charging service, now used by more than 3.5 million drivers across 19 European countries and the UK.

From a charging station map, to a route planner and a multi-network charging card, we have gradually built everything you need to charge seamlessly.

Chargemap is now an ecosystem serving three key players in electric mobility:

  • Chargemap for drivers: find a charging point, plan a journey, and charge at over one million compatible charging points across Europe.
  • Chargemap Business for companies: manage charging for their fleets and employees.
  • Chargemap Partners for charging networks: optimise and develop their infrastructure.

Fifteen years after it was set up, Chargemap remains an independent company, still led by its founder, with an enduring ambition: to continue growing and innovating to serve electric mobility across Europe.

Why are we evolving our brand today?

The electric mobility market has changed profoundly. Electric vehicles are becoming mainstream, charging networks are expanding, and drivers are increasingly demanding. Being able to charge is no longer enough; they want a seamless charging experience that meets their expectations.

Our ambition has grown with them. Today, it goes far beyond an app or a charging card. Chargemap is the reference platform accelerating today's electric mobility, and shaping tomorrow's, for drivers, businesses, and charging networks. This ambition has guided us from day one, but it now deserves to be expressed more clearly, with an identity that matches our mission.

What's changing: a new visual identity to support this ambition

This new milestone called for an identity that reflects who we are today. We have evolved our brand to reflect what Chargemap has become: a more mature, more ambitious company, capable of supporting drivers, businesses, and charging networks. New logo, new colours, new typography: each element has been designed to build a clearer, more consistent brand, capable of supporting our growth in the years ahead.

This identity does not change who we are. It expresses our ambition more clearly: to be the leading reference for electric vehicle charging in Europe.

What hasn't changed: our mission and values

Our identity is evolving. Our beliefs, however, remain the same: Community, Trust, and Independence.

Our mission remains unchanged: to simplify electric vehicle charging so that everyone can travel with complete peace of mind in an electric vehicle.

The community remains at the heart of everything we do. It is the millions of drivers who report charging stations, share their experiences, and support one another every day that make Chargemap what it is.

Our independence and our commitment to quality also remain core pillars of the way we build Chargemap.

This is just the beginning

This new identity marks the start of a new chapter for Chargemap. It will be gradually rolled out across all our products, services and communications through to the end of 2026. But what matters most is what comes next.

We will continue to develop new services, improve the charging experience, and support an ever-growing number of drivers, businesses and partners across Europe. Since 2009, one thing has never changed: our drive to make electric mobility easier and more accessible. This new chapter has only just begun.
